Operational Workflow

How MarginLane Works

From raw wholesale spreadsheet to validated Amazon FBA procurement in five transparent, automated steps.

01
Step 1: Ingestion

Upload Your Supplier Price Sheet

Upload your distributor or wholesale manifest in CSV or Excel (XLSX) format. MarginLane's column mapper identifies EAN, UPC, internal SKU, supplier title, pack quantity, and wholesale price automatically.

Input:Raw distributor CSV/XLSX file, supplier catalog feed
Output:Cleaned, standardized supplier records ready for catalog matching
Quality Safeguard:GTIN-13 checksum validation, duplicate detection, and file integrity check
02
Step 2: Catalog Matching

Match Products Against Amazon Catalog

MarginLane executes the PMS-1.0 engine to query the Amazon Catalog Items API (v2022-04-01). It matches barcodes, brands, and models while applying strict confidence floors to reject incorrect pack counts or variation parents.

Input:Cleaned supplier product identifiers and attributes
Output:Verified Amazon ASIN, product title, main image, and category mapping
Quality Safeguard:92+ confidence floor for auto-matching; hard rejection for 1-pack vs 2-pack discrepancies
03
Step 3: Signal Enrichment

Enrich with Live SP-API & Historical Signals

For each matched ASIN, MarginLane retrieves real-time Buy Box offers, active seller counts, brand eligibility restrictions, authoritative SP-API fee estimates, and Keepa historical demand trends.

Input:Target ASIN, connected store marketplace ID, fulfillment channel (FBA/FBM)
Output:Current Buy Box price, FBA fulfillment fee, referral fee, and seller count
Quality Safeguard:Explicit data provenance tagging: SP-API fee scenario vs Keepa rank proxy
04
Step 4: Economic Analysis

Calculate Net Economics & Price Protection

The Conservative Analysis Price (CAP) engine evaluates the current Buy Box against 30-day and 90-day averages to eliminate price spike risks. It then calculates true Landed Cost, Net Profit, Margin %, and Break-Even prices.

Input:Analysis sell price, wholesale unit cost, freight, prep, and tax profile
Output:Net cash profit, ROI %, maximum buy price, and price volatility indicators
Quality Safeguard:Automatic price capping if current Buy Box is artificially elevated > 15%
05
Step 5: Prioritization

Score, Shortlist & Execute Orders

Every product is assigned an explainable 0–100 MarginLane Score (MLS-1.0). Filter your catalog by opportunity label (Strong Opportunity, Review Carefully, Risky, Avoid) and export purchase-ready order sheets.

Input:Multi-engine composite metrics, MOQ thresholds, target profit goals
Output:Curated shortlist, exportable CSV/Excel PO with supplier SKUs and ASINs
Quality Safeguard:Instant gating check ensures you are authorized to sell before purchasing stock
